No shim, and there was no rattle/mute by the break angle over the mustang-style bridge/saddles. The bridge is a four screw three saddle one of unknown origin. No name body and neck, squier neck plate, American special tuners and an Artec Vintage 50 pu, pot from a MIJ Tele and strat knobs. It's a partsesquire built from parts assembled over time. I use 011-050 gauge on this guitar and plan to continue to do so.

Just got the Bigsby and just a first test of how it will look. I actually did it on a whim because I liked the Vibramate product so much on my Les Paul with the B7 tailpiece. I was concerned about the break angle too, but was pleasantly surprised that it didn't matter, so yes I'm happy with it. The Vibramate is a Stage 1, which looks a little odd. Played acoustically, it is VERY loud compared to my friends Tennessee Rose, so the break angle is adding little to the down force, or is not the most significant issue at play. It's no less than on my stock Gretsch Tennessee Special, which is also no issue. The strings don't pop out of the saddles either. My break angle is shallow, but not an issue. You won't be getting anything you 'need', but you will be changing it, for what its worth. Needing to raise the saddles and shim the neck to increase the break angle a degree or two seems insignificant compared to the 70 degree change already. The break angle changed by about ~70(?) degrees when adding the Bigsby without detriment. Mine is a string-thru body (MIM Rosewood). Therefore, changing the neck angle makes you rise the bridge saddles. It sounds like you're using the same bridge. BTW the bridge is a top loader.Ĭlick to expand.I guess that's my question to Koko. I will file notches for the strings, the saddles are notched. This because I am very happy with the bridge and the guitar intonate well and I like the bridge. Question: since the Bigsby branded is a bit shorter than the F-branded, which mounts at the edge of the body, where do I ideally mount it? I will use a three saddle bridge and not the bigsby bridge + mounting plate. I just bought a Bigsby B5, Bigsby branded, not the one with the Fender F logo.
